This week, 7th grade will take the TCAP writing assessment. It is an extended writing assessment, so students need to come prepared having had plenty of sleep, breakfast, and ready to read closely, think, and write. Remember POW TIDE, our school-wide structure for analytical writing.
Our girls’ basketball team made the city tournament! They play Tuesday evening at Overton High. Congratulations, Coaches Sakarapanee and Duren and the girls! We need a big crowd to come out and cheer them on to the next round Tuesday evening.
Progress reports will be issued this Wednesday. Please expect these from your child, and reach out to us with any questions.
This Thursday is our Valentine’s Dance! 5th and 6th will take place immediately after school until 5:30, while 7th and 8th will begin at 6 and run until 7:30. 7th and 8th graders will need to go home after school and come back for the dance if they are to attend. 7th and 8th graders found on campus before their dance will not be allowed into their dance! All students will need to be picked up promptly at the conclusion of their dance. The cost is 5 Birdie Bills. There will be items for purchase in the dance such as photos and pizza, so bring a little $ as well. There will be a grade level dance off with a reward to the best grade level! Students will even be able to text in their requests!! You don’t want to miss DJ Jazzy Clark spinning today’s greatest dance hits, all in age-appropriate versions, of course!
Reminder: Next Monday, 2/16, there is no school for teacher professional development.
