August will be here before you know it, and we’ll be kicking off the 2018-19 school year with a number of fun and informative events happening in quick succession. Don’t miss out!
Sunday, August 5, 5-7 p.m: 5th Grade Play Date
All incoming 5th grade families are invited to visit and connect with other new families in Elmington Park (near the playground). Bring a picnic dinner, blanket, and outdoor toys to share. This is a casual, come-and-go event.
Monday, August 6, 9-11 a.m: Blue Jay Beginnings
Orientation for incoming 5th grade students and families. Students will have the opportunity to meet teachers and participate in activities while families talk with PTSO representatives and administration about all things West. West Wear will be available for purchase.
Monday, August 6, 6-7:30 p.m: Grades 6–8 Sneak Peek/Schedule Pickup
This night will provide our families in grades 6-8 the opportunity to pick up their child’s schedule and purchase West Wear before the first day of school. Incoming 5th graders who were unable to attend Blue Jay Beginnings earlier in the day may pick up their schedules at this time. Come at any point during the night, but we will close down at 7:30 to make sure everyone gets a good night’s sleep before the first day.
Tuesday, August 7, 9 a.m: First Day of School!
Parents are welcome to walk children into the lobby via the main doors facing Elmington Park and stay for coffee on the front steps. We will have West Wear for sale and a selfie booth. Fifth graders should report to the auditorium.
Tuesday, August 14, 6-7:30 p.m.: August PTSO Meeting
Join us in the library for the first PTSO meeting of the year.
Thursday, August 23, 6-7:30 p.m.: Back-to-School Open House
Open House provides parents with the opportunity to hear from teachers in the classroom about all the exciting things that will happen this year. The event will begin with a welcome in the auditorium at 6 p.m., so please be on time.
