School Starts in Less Than Three Weeks!

Summer 2019 is flying by. The first day of the 2019-20 school year, Monday, August 5, is less than three weeks away! We look forward to seeing many of you even sooner, at one or more of these back-to-school events:
Summer Math Camp for Rising 5th Graders
West End is excited to partner with Vanderbilt University to offer a week of experiences that will help prepare our newest Blue Jays for success in middle school math. Camp will be held at West End July 29-August 2 from 9 to 1 each day. Students will take part in our 5th grade orientation program, Blue Jay Beginnings, on August 2. There is no cost, but registration is limited to the first 50 students who complete this form.
Volunteer Work Day
Help get ready for school. We will stuff first day folders, fold West Wear, get textbooks organized, and more. We need lots of hands to help, and kids are encouraged to come help! July 26, 9 to noon (meet in the office).
Grades 6-8 Schedule Pickup
On July 31, 6th, 7th and 8th grade families are invited to stop by school to pick up schedules and purchase West Wear. This is a drop-in event, and you are welcome any time. Please note that 5th graders will get schedules at Blue Jay Beginnings on August 2. If you cannot attend these events, feel free to stop by the main office on August 1 or August 2 between 9 AM and 3 PM to get your schedule.
Blue Jay Beginnings (orientation for 5th grade students and parents)
5th grade students will get a tour, learn about band, get their schedules, and meet their new teachers and classmates on August 2 from 9 to 11 AM. Parents will get tons of back-to-school information. Doors will open at 8:30 AM. Please note that 5th grade students do not need to come to the schedule pick up on the 31st. That is for older students. If you cannot attend this event, feel free to stop by the main office on August 1 or August 2 between 9 AM and 3 PM to get your schedule.
5th Grade Picnic in Elmington Park
Come meet other new West End families the day before school starts, Sunday, August 4, from 5 to 7 PM. Please bring a blanket, a picnic dinner, and maybe a sports toy to share. In case of rain, we will hold the picnic in the gym.
