International Walk to School Day is a global event that involves communities from more than 40 countries walking and biking to school on the same day. It began in 1997 as a one-day event. Over time, this event has become part of a movement for year-round safe routes to school and a celebration – with record breaking participation – each October.
West End will celebrate Walk to School Day by gathering at the top of Love Circle at 8:00 this Wednesday, October 6, for a group photo overlooking downtown Nashville followed by a half-mile walk down Marlborough and Richardson avenues to campus. (Feel free to join in anywhere along the route.) Parents are welcome (encouraged, even!) to participate. Get those steps in, Blue Jays! (Note: Transportation to the top of Love Circle will not be provided.)
