Been thinking about a closet clean-out now that cooler weather has finally arrived (and with the holidays fast approaching)? Our UniCycle Closet at school could use a boost, which makes this a win-win situation. This week, Monday, November 8, through Friday, November 12, we’ll have a collection basket right outside the door off the Bowling Avenue loop for easy donation drop-offs, and we’re counting on you to help us to fill our school closet and send in extras that will go to other MNPS closets across Nashville as well as home with students in the Homeless Education Resource Office program. We’ll make it all happen through our partnership with UniCycle, which coordinates districtwide collection and distribution of school clothing through closets and referrals. They’ve distributed about 8,000 items to students so far this year, and need our support to keep helping.

What we need for our closet: WEMS Spirit Wear! Plus school-approved pants, including joggers and jeans of all sizes, and hoodies and other warm school-appropriate tops!
What we’re also collecting for UniCycle and their partner schools: COATS! Have one from last year that didn’t get a lot of use but doesn’t fit this year? We will send it on to another student who will love it this winter! UniCycle also always needs traditional standard school attire – please donate any collared shirts and khaki, black or navy pants, shorts, or skirts (in all sizes) that you have tucked away in your closet. UniCycle will get it to a student at a school with a traditional dress code who could use a hand. Thank you for being a great part of our MNPS community—it takes a village!
