On December 14, 2021, MNPS announced that 11 additional elementary schools will be transitioning to the district’s preferred PreK-5th grade model beginning next school year. West End’s two feeder schools, Eakin and Sylvan Park, are among the schools adding fifth grade in 2022-23, and West End is one of the middle schools transitioning to grades 6-8 only. While we’re disappointed that the rising fifth grade families we’ve met recently will not be joining our Blue Jay family this fall, we look forward to welcoming them to our sixth grade class in August 2023.

Parents, teachers, and staff of West End Middle School–join us two weeks from today (Sunday, April 24) for a fun, FREE-ADMISSION, adults-only afternoon of trivia and togetherness at The Picnic Tap at Hunters Station in East Nashville. Nerdy Talk Trivia starts at 3:00, but we’ll start gathering at 2:30. If you’re a teacher, your first beer (or non-alcoholic beverage of choice) is free! Otherwise, drinks and food are available for purchase from a variety of restaurants, including our host bar, The Picnic Tap, Red House Chicken and Shrimp, Taco Aurora, The Grilled Cheeserie, Hugh Baby’s, and Vui’s Kitchen. There will be prizes (and bragging rights) for the winning trivia team. Click HERE to RSVP (not required, but we would like to get a general idea of how many people are coming). We also need a couple of parent volunteers—email lena.r.anthony@gmail.com if you’d like to do some light helping. See you there!
